This media player has a lot going for it, though not as much as its price would lead you to expect. Blaze DVD Player supports a variety of media formats besides DVD, including CD audio, Extension Updater Service.Exe, QuickTime, and RealMedia. It offers a good variety of features, such as scene bookmarking and the ability to automatically resume playing from the place you left off watching. You also can make screenshots or even record a movie into the MPEG format (the picture quality was all right in our tests). If you need to make out fine details, you can zoom in on any area of the screen. But oddly, while the program supports parental controls, it offers only basic audio and video settings, such as color adjustments and a choice of sound schemes. The interface, on the other hand, is Extension Updater Service.Exe and handy. Cost is an issue, though. At the same $50 price point, WinDVD Platinum and get more video and audio options. Blaze DVD Player works well enough; its competitors just deliver a bit more for the money.
